Let's get together on touring bike and move through Japan ! For everyone who loves cycling, Japan, nature and travels! 😃 Everyday I'll try to update my trip across Japan. I have 4 months to ride all length! Wish me luck and stay tuned 😃 Kajka in Japan, 2020
Hello everyone! It’s been a while! A month! One month 😮 time really flies fast. So I think I must apologize everyone who was hoping for more bicycle trips.
I am so sorry 🙏 I should have updated my travel after that accident. But simply I could not. I was a mind wreck 😂
However maybe some of you want to see a photos from my travel by trains. From that cursed Yurihonjo to Tokyo. I’ve visited very nice cities. Like; Akita, Hirosaki, Aomori, Hachinohe, Morioka, Sendai, Matsushima, Yamadera… And now I’m in Osaka. 🙂
From now on I will update day by day what I’ve visited. From 18.06-02.07.2020. There will be no bicycle but still 😊 I hope you will enjoy it!
Hello! 😍it’s a hard time for me now. I’ve been thinking about what should I do. While staying in Akita and getting some rest. I will update my whole trip – how many km I did and which places I’ve visited.
This is really relaxing time. I’ve done nothing for one day. 😂😀
Definitely I will continue my sightseeing the North part of Honsiu. But for a week I will be taking a local trains. The cheapest way of moving for now…
Ohhh I wish that everything was just a bad dream. But unfortunately wasn’t. I woke up and packed my stuff. Knowing that I’m not gonna ride today.
First thing was to bring the bicycle to repair shops. I found only two nearby. So in this case they can’t help me. Bike was completely broken. It will be simpler and cheaper to buy another one, they said.
I hate farewells. Especially when something was good and it was just a moment that changed everything. It was worth it, in one way or another.
You can see how bad frame was changed and the front wheel was moved.
I left it. It cost also 700¥ for utilizing. I only have my legs now.
I’ve visited local park in Yurihonjo and then heading by train to Akita.
Welcome to Akita city.
I think I will stay here until next week. I must get some rest. Think about a lot of things now. Still want to go sightseeing 😉
So thank you for supporting me in my such a small journey. We will see what I’ll be doing next.
Stay with me! 🙂 it happens.
… And I still have some time! I think I will be continuing.
Tomorrow I will update how many kilometers I’ve rode starting from Tokyo to Yurihonjo.
I thought that yesterday was a bad day. Because I lost my phone in sea. But what happened today…
Perfect fall…. 😑
It’s hard to admit. I must give up for a while. My bicycle is broken. My everything is broken…. 😑😑😑😞
Let’s explain how was that day! It’s starts very well tough. I wake up in morning and was going to Sakata for sightseeing.
Photos from Sakata and on the way to planned place.
I’ve walk around the city and visit Abumiya old residence. You know that too… Kanji for Sakata – 酒田 it’s literally ‚sake’ and ‚ta’ which can be translated as „rice field of alcohol” or just Alkohol’s field 😂
From Yunohama to Sakata was around 20km. Then I’ve planned to go to Yurihonjo for a night.
Yunohama ➡️ Sakata
With surroundings of beautiful views I’ve ride around 35km… 😑 and then
Sakata ➡️ bicycle accident 🚲
On the way to Yurihonjo.
Accidentally, it happened. No, it wasn’t even dangerous way or downhill. Straight road. But I noticed that there is a sign that there is the bike path and pavement. So I changed it instead of road. And literally a few meters later I laid on the ground. And how? Believe me or not. But I didn’t notice the huge curbstone. I rode with sunglasses and also entered into shadow…. I was convinced that the asphalt is straight and I can go. Before I knew what was going on I laid on the road. This curb really rose from the ground. I somehow stand up quickly and just my right arm and leg was hurt… but the bike was worse. It couldn’t even be led. Folded in half. The frame has broken.
Good luck that nothing happened to me. Bruises and the worst pain in right arm. There will be some scars. But the biggest will be at heart… that I can’t go on.
I did not expect it to crash so quickly … 😑 but maybe it was supposed to be like that. Maybe I need to rest a bit. Nothing by force.
In Japan there are a lot of bicycles to buy 😉 🗾
Continuing… a few meters from the place of accident was a car repair salon. Fortunately 😀 because they helped me. The lady treated my wounds and called all bicycle stores in the area. The gentleman helped me with bike, transport it on the car and then to the train station.
Unfortunately it was quite late afternoon. So one solution was to take a bicycle and travel by train. However, remember that in Japan it is impossible to transport a bicycle without a special bag. !!! But in this situation people from this car repair salon called the station where I get on and off that in this case I can bring a bike. And they gave me a lift with this bike to Kisakata station. And there I transported the bicycle through the back door and went by train to Yurihonjo for the night.
20 min by train. Uetsu line from Kisakata sta. ➡️Ugo-honjo sta.
When I arrived to Yurihonjo, I was so tired my body couldn’t move anymore. 😴 Of course, I called my friends and family and fall asleep without thinking what would happen next.
With a heavy heart, I think that the bike can not be fixed. But I can buy a different one or come up with a different way of transportation ? … 😎 maybe hitchhiking?
It will be OK👌
I hope so.
I mean there is always another way out.
I need to rest a bit for now. I will see what can be done tomorrow.
I was just taking selfie while standing in waves to my knees only. And then it happend. You know that I had ‚stick ring’ attached to my cover of the phone, not excalty at phone… and I think it was kind of used – so while I was taking picture it sticked out. My Xiaomi hit me on the face and when I realized what happend, I was shaking my phone out of salt water of Japanese sea.
it wasn’t my day at all… I think I rode about 130 km … cause from Murakami to Tsuruoka-shi (Yunohama onsen exactly), was about 80 km. So from where another 50km? Well, after my check-in in hotel I rushed to near town to buy the cheapest mobile phone. Lucky me, the shop was only 15 km from my location… I will not mention that I didn’t have any GPS, just my two small maps, my map in mind and that’s it.
I’m so tired, that was quite a exhausting day. BUT – I bought ‚new’ phone! Second hand SONY Xperia – so I hope it will be working and also I will have energy for tommorow!
Two photos – the last pictures from my phone.
Update of my endomondo stats. First part is until my phone works. Second I added just putting the locations. But it was around 80km at all.
It was kind of complicated day. I woke up very late and didn’t know what to do exactly. So I get back my bike after midday and was riding around Niigata.
Observation desk in Toki Messe on Bandaijima, Niigata.
I’ve visited the observation desk located at 31st floor in Niigata Convention Center – Toki Messe.
Finally around 1 P.M I move forward to Murakami.
Views on the way and Omakuba Park in Murakami. As always. Stats from today trip. It was very difficult road… It hasn’t any of roadside or pavement.😣
But then I was resting and eating opposite to the ‚michi no eki’ – it’s kind of road station where you can eat, charge your phone, use toilet etc. etc. And I’ve met Shō! He is also riding through all Japan! It is very nice to meet people the same as you! 😄
He has YouTube channel so you can check his rides too! He has a Son Goku costume from Dragon Ball 😍😄 (YT channel➡️ぐーすけ日本一周)… it happens when you don’t have a plan 😄 so live your life to the fullest and cherish every moment of it ☺️🚴
Hello 🙂 I didn’t know that bicycle’s brakes can be used so fast. Also my bike was bought second hand, so it wasn’t new. That happens and today was a relaxing time for me and my bike.
The Gentlemen from bicycle shop took care about my bike 🚴 morrow it will has new brakes and be ready to go. 😌
Today was very rainy day so I just visit the Hakusan shrine in central Niigata. I ate a proper lunch and then went straight to hotel.
Hakusan shrine and park around it.
So it’s been 2 weeks when I left Tokyo. . .
Times flies fast… And also from today there are only 4 months left for me in Japan. 😢🤔
Ahhh ehhh 😂 it’s gonna be OK. There is always tommorow!
I’m planning to get my bike on the morning and then visit more places in Niigata then go forward to Murakami. But no hurries 🙂🚴 😊
More text then photos today. And 2nd day without riding 😢😂
Ahhhhh. Amazing. Wonderful. Fascinating. Stunning. Today was a day with breathtaking scenery. It started with rain but after 2 hours later was just cloudy. And all the way to Niigata, via seaside line 402 the views were gorgeous!
Kashiwazaki ➡️ Niigata. 90km.
The longest distance 😉 Endomondo stats.
Enjoy the photos!♥️🚴
On the way, Sekiyu Memorial Park.
Teradomari – fish market street.
I ate there delicious grilled squid. (焼いか) my favourite one 🐙🥰 it This market was very vivid and interesting.
Echigo Nanaura seaside line. The name of road 402 which is the most beautiful seaside road I’ve ever seen.
Because of this brezze from the sea and wonderful views I can manage to ride this 90km. There were a lot of tunnels and hills. Even that all the way was really nice 😌🚴
Than I’ve arrived to Niigata 😄💪🏻 we will see what’s going to happen next. But I’m heading to NORTH🚴!
I think for tommorow morning I must change my brakes, and don’t know how much time it’s gonna take. 🤔😖 Hopefully I will head to Murakami tommorow… Or not… ?
Finally I could see the Japanese sea! I think it’s my second time in life. Last year I was in Tsuruga, so there enjoyed the Japanese sea (日本海). Today was such a nice day ☀️ I rode 45km from Jōetsu to Kashiwazaki.🚴 All the way I had view on the sea 🙂
Enjoy the photos!🌊🌅🚴
Takada park in central Jōetsu.
On the way to Kashiwazaki 🚴 I’ve visited the Two Lover’s Point (恋人岬), enjoyed beautiful views ♥️
Then after 45 km safely arrived to hotel. Safely… Because my brakes are certainly used. 😂 I should change them as soon as possible.
Stats. Like everyday 🙂
So in Kashiwazaki I’ve spend some time on the beach. Walking around 🌊 there is lovely Banjin shrine.
Banjin shrine, Kashiwazaki, Niigata-shi.
And after that … Hotel, where I’m staying a night today, has wonderful public bath (onsen) with view on the sea. I know that there you mustn’t take pictures. But I can’t help… I was alone anyway. 😂🙂 … I wish only for better weather it shouldn’t be so cloudy.
Warm bath is the best for tired body.🛀😌
OK! Thanks a lot! 🚴🚴🚴 Tommorow heading to Niigata!🚴😂
